SoliPrelude

SoliPrelude 

SoliPrelude is for students with little or no musical training on a string instrument. To participate in SoliPrelude, students must be at least 9 years old.  The Beginning Orchestra is comprised of the following instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello and String Bass. Students enrolled in Beginning Orchestra will learn the basics of string technique including posture, instrument position, left and right hand fundamentals, tone production and the musical elements of rhythm, tempo, pitch and notation. Students are expected to reinforce techniques learned in class by reviewing them on the days they do not have class.  Smartmusic assignments will be given sporadically and are expected to be completed in a timely fashion. Class time availability is contingent upon enrollment.

SoliPrelude meets Wednesdays at 11:45am or 2:30pm.

Required Materials: Instrument, rosin, soft cloth, shoulder rest (Kun or Everest brand), pencil, three ring black binder, endpin stop (cello and bass only), folding music stand, Essential Elements for Strings, Book 1. Students also need a Smartmusic Subscription and computer access to the software (one per family).  Click here to learn more about Smartmusic.

SoliCamerata

SoliCamerata is comprised of students with a proficient understanding of their chosen instrument.  Individual practice outside of class time is necessary and expected. This ensemble will place an emphasis on notation, aural skills and fundamental techniques. Students in this ensemble are also expected to promptly attend every rehearsal and performance.  Students will be required to regularly submit Smartmusic assignments with few reminders and make adjustments as necessary. Current SoliMusica students will be placed in SoliCamerata based upon previous observations from the SoliMusica teachers.  Students new to SoliMusica Academy will be required to complete an audition before being placed in this ensemble for an exploratory period at the end of which the directors will make recommendations for permanent placement.  Class times are contingent upon enrollment.

SoliCamerata meets Wednesdays 11:45am-12:30pm or 3:30pm-4:15pm

SoliMezzo

SoliMezzo is comprised of students with a proficient understanding of their chosen instrument.  Individual practice outside of class time is necessary and expected. This ensemble will place an emphasis on growing understanding of the nuances of the instrument and further mastering fundamentals while learning new techniques. Students in this ensemble are also expected to promptly attend every rehearsal and performance.  Students will be required to regularly submit Smartmusic assignments with few reminders and make adjustments as necessary. Current SoliMusica students will be placed in SoliMezzo based upon previous observations from the SoliMusica teachers.  Students new to SoliMusica Academy will be required to complete an audition before being placed in this ensemble for an exploratory period at the end of which the directors will make recommendations for permanent placement. Class times are contingent upon enrollment.

SoliChamber

SoliChamber is comprised of students with the highest skill level with a desire for serious music study and serves as the premiere performing ensemble at SoliMusica Academy.  Individual practice outside of class time is necessary and expected. Students in this ensemble are also expected to promptly attend every rehearsal and performance.  Students will be required to regularly and independently submit Smartmusic assignments and make adjustments as necessary. Current SoliMusica students will be placed in SoliChamber based upon previous observations from the SoliMusica teachers.  Students new to SoliMusica Academy will be required to complete an audition before being placed in this ensemble for an exploratory period at the end of which the directors will make recommendations for permanent placement.

SoliChamber meets Wednesdays at 9:15am.

Required Materials:  Instrument, rosin, soft cloth, Kun or Everest brand shoulder rest (violin and viola only), pencil, three ring black binder, endpin stop (cello and bass only), folding music stand, Essentials for Strings book. PreSoli 

SoliPrelude is for students with little or no musical training on a string instrument. To participate in PreSoli, students must be 7-8 years old.  Students enrolled in this class will learn the basics of violin along with music concepts encountered in advancing music study. Students are expected to reinforce techniques learned in class by reviewing them on the days they do not have class.  Classes will be kept small and will last 30 minutes.  All students enrolled in PreSoli will begin on violin.  Class time availability is contingent upon enrollment.

PreSoli meets Wednesdays at 2:00pm.

SoliMusica Academy Test Drive

The SoliMusica Academy Test Drive is a time for your child to see and play all the different instruments that are available under the direction of trained personnel. With the information gathered at the Test Drive, we are better able to determine which instrument your child would enjoy playing based on their abilities and interests.
